Last Thursday, 70 Bezek employees (Bezek is the Israeli telephone company) of all levels came to celebrate Tu B’Shvat, the new year of the trees, with residents of ALEH Jerusalem. The Bezek employees made a considerable effort to put on a wonderful event for the residents, and it is hard to describe how great it really was.

The Tu B’shvat party included dancing, an experiential story about vegetable soup (with real vegetables that were prepared in advance and a pot of orange soup to taste), and a workshop for planting plants and decorating the pots. Additionally, there was a balloon man to further brighten up the day, and wonderful fruits and nuts to eat for the holiday, which the Bezek employees brought to each and every floor of the building in order to pamper all the employees, volunteers and residents. At the end of the activity, they gave a platter of dried fruit to each department, a beautiful cyclamen plant to grace each classroom, and a pair of warm, comfy pajamas to each resident! Everyone was so excited!!

The event was an incredible success, and the way the Bezek employees connected with the residents was amazing to see. At the end, each employee spoke about the experience they’d had with the residents, and how it had given new proportions to their lives. Itamar, Bezek’s deputy director for the Jerusalem region, mentioned how proud he was of his staff, and promised that this would only be the beginning of a long term relationship. All of us at ALEH are so grateful to Bezek’s employees for giving our residents such a wonderful experience, and we look forward to your next visit!
